1000+ Project：Feng Li – White Night 2017

“1000+” program carried out by A Thousand Plateaus Art Space is about to present the artist Feng Li’s solo exhibition “White Night 2017”. Feng Li is an artist with a strong personal character, which makes his production draw largely attention from the realm of photography. However, he always remains to be modest in front of the public. As consistent as his art work, he is part of this world, and together, they open up another dimension in it. Along with his admirers, they are addicted to this pleasure.

The photograph taken by Feng Li usually comes from the capture of ordinary life scenes, in which he utilises the flashlight to freeze and magnify the details, moments or micro stories that are easily ignored by us. There are no  precise plans, arrangements within his art work. In fact that his works derive from the discovery of reality, which somehow is showed in the way of being suddenly interrupted by the camera lens. In general, the subject matter is not prearranged by the artist, since it’s the best way to reveal its state of nature.

More importantly, it’s not difficult to find out Feng Li’s unique perspective and his way of viewing the world after an overview of his productions. Although using merely the concept or few adjectives to provide his work with a conclusion is impossible, we could still see that the works themselves have a sense of unplanned uniformity. Or say, if a photo is taken by Feng Li, it is very easy to be recognised even though there are no any similarities in content or form between one another. This might be the most fascinating aspect in Feng Li’s photography. So to speak, his photos demonstrate a kind of naturalness without any manipulated traces. Therefore, the artist leads his audience to truly dive into the contemporary period, especially those wonderful moments that have been numerously overlooked by us. This sort of wonderfulness created by Feng Li surely belongs to himself.
