Biography

Wang Shaoqiang, known by the pseudonym Houshan, is currently the Director of the Guangdong Museum of Art, a second-level professor, a researcher in cultural relics and museums, and a doctoral supervisor. He is an expert enjoying the State Council Special Allowance. He serves as a council member of the China Artists Association, the Deputy Director of the Southern Branch of the Calligraphy and Painting Academy of the Central Institute of Culture and History, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Artists Association, a member of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Steering Committee, a member of the Curatorial Committee and Academic Committee of the China Artists Association, a member of the National Art Museum Professional Committee, and a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the China National Academy of Arts. He was formerly the Dean of the School of Visual Art and Design at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Hao has been involved in the planning of major exhibitions such as the Guangdong Centennial Art Exhibition, the 2017 Guangzhou Image Triennial, and the 2021 Guangzhou Image Triennial. He was the chief planner and curator of the Documentation Exhibition of the 6th Guangzhou Triennial. In 2008, he was selected as a candidate for the "Thousand Hundred Ten Project" in Guangdong Province's higher education institutions, and in 2009, he was selected as a candidate for the "Ten Hundred Thousand Project" in Guangdong Province. In 2013, he was named a Teaching Master at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and in 2017, he was selected as a Leading Talent in Propaganda, Ideology, and Culture under the "Guangdong Special Support Plan." He has twice been listed on the "China Art Power List" and was named a Figure of Influence by "National Art" magazine. Hao Houshan currently lives and works in Guangzhou.
