Patches - Text / Xing Wanli
In most cases, I go back to the painting repeatedly to finish it. Every time restarting on the work in this process, I sift through and respond promptly to the myriad media information in front of me. From such “patching up,” the image gets updated and adjusted over and over again, which keeps the project fluid and open. Every new patch has the potential to partially affect composition; it also forms new connections or tensions with the older version, thereby propelling the evolution of the image.
