陈威廷 Chen Wei Ting b. 1992

Biography
Chen Wei Ting, born in Tainan, Taiwan, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with a Master's degree in Global Art Practice. His works incorporate painting, poetry, and installation to explore themes of childhood imagery, mono no aware, and the uncanny, forming his distinctive artistic world. Using acrylic and oil pastels as primary mediums, he integrates poetic text into his visuals, creating a lyrical narrative that portrays the intersection of childhood and adulthood.
 
In recent years, Chen has held solo exhibitions at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (2024, “ Paramita") and Tainan Art Museum (2025, " ATrace of Grey"), while also exhibiting in New York, Hong Kong, London, Seoul, Thailand, and Japan . He has received awards, including, The 42nd Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prize (SelectedWork), Shibuya Awards 2021 (Grand Prize) and Shibuya Awards 2023 (Tomio Koyama   Jury Prize). Additionally, he has been supported by the Tokyo Arts Council and has been selected for the CAF award 2022 (Contemporary Art Foundation). His works have also been collected by the Tainan Art Museum the Lih Pao Cultural Arts Foundation and the Dali Art Park in Taichung. Currently based in Tokyo, Japan, he continues his artistic practice and research.
