White Horse: Yu Ji Solo Exhibition

Yu Ji’s solo show White Horse at A Thousand Plateaus Art Space will show his latest video series Acnestis (2009), consisting of five different units: Bear’s Paw, Fish, Bear’s Paw and Fish, Cat and White Horse. In this series, Yu Ji presents us his impressions of life as itchy, scratchy experiences. We could visualize those experiences by imagining an itchy spot on our back. We can keep on scratching, our neck will feel stiff, our shoulders will ache and our heart will start pounding, but the itchy spot will still be there, happy as ever; invisible but unbearably itchy. It is there and we can not forget that it is there. The five independent units have no clear beginning or end but they all touch upon the scratching of the animal inside the modern human being.
