Oscillation - Text / Yu Xiangyue
The sense of direction is particularly important in my work. Direction signals movement: the spaceship floats to and fro; the dart approaches from afar; the snake winds around and up the banshee’s body; the golden bough performs a fall of gravity; Hamilton hides into water grasses. However, the act of art-making doesn’t seem to have any sense of direction. I feel more like oscillating, like stepping back and forth as I desire outward from and around myself. This is an unbearable interstitial stage that anticipates salvage. Figuratively speaking, it’s like, the dog days of summer need to be quenched by tears.
