Blackness at Shenzhen Museum in 1990 is a very crucial turning point in Wang Chuan's career. In his installations, performance art, and easel paintings, he has successfully completed the transition from figuration to abstraction, transforming the direct expression of emotion into conceptual practice. This change is not a jump, but a natural one, as he chooses to think about life and vision from the essence of painting .The exhibition was hailed by art historian Huang Zhuan as “the first practice of Minimalism in southern China.”
